Day 1

Nourlangie Rock, Yellow Water Cruise.

Depart Darwin and travel into World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park. Visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre and gain an insight into the cultural and historical significance the park holds for its traditional owners. Join a guided boat cruise on Yellow Water, Kakadu’s most famous wetland area. Keep a look out for the powerful saltwater crocodiles, diverse birdlife and beautiful

waterlilies. After lunch travel to Nourlangie art site and view the ancient galleries of artwork. The unique X-ray style works record the traditional cultures, changes and evolution of the land and people over the last 40,000 years.

Day 2

Ubirr, East Alligator River Cruise.

Map of Kakadu and KatherineOption to take a morning flight over the Arnhem Land Escarpment (own expense). Travel to Ubirr to see superbly preserved Aboriginal rock art before joining Aboriginal guides for a cruise on the East Alligator River. Learn of the flora, fauna, Aboriginal mythology and history of the region and, by special permission, take a short walk into Arnhem Land. Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre

en route to Darwin and stop at Window on the Wetlands for a complimentary glass of wine while watching the changing light of day over the floodplains.

Day 3

Nitmiluk National Park, Katherine Gorge, Leliyn (Edith Falls), Darwin.

This spectacular park encompasses 13 gorges, all formed by the mighty Katherine River. Enjoy a memorable cruise between the sheer walls of majestic Katherine Gorge. Your guide will detail the region’s flora and fauna, and explain the significance of the gorge for the Aboriginal people of this region. After a relaxing lunch, visit beautiful Leliyn where there’s the opportunity for a swim (conditions permitting).
