States & Territories:Full Day Tour: Discover the amazing Kata Tjuta (Olgas) and Uluru (Ayers Rock)- Explore Kata Tjuta (Olgas) and learn of the formation of the giant rocky domes
- Watch the amazing colours of Uluru (Ayers Rock) at sunset.
From Alice Springs travel via the rugged MacDonnell Ranges. En route to Kata Tjuta (Olgas) stop at the Camel Farm. On the approach to Kata Tjuta, you will start to appreciate the enormity of this cluster of 36 giant domes. Kata Tjuta was created from the eroded sediment from a long extinct monolith. On arrival at the domes, join a guided walk along the creek bed between the sheer walls and deep into Walpa (Olga) Gorge. Learn of the domes’ formation, hear of the ancient stories that surround them, and of the unique flora and fauna of the area. Some of the rocks are bunched close together with only narrow precipitous crevices between them. Others, rounded and polished by the wind, are more spaced apart. Look for ancient petroglyphs (stone carvings) on the gorge floor. Late in the afternoon travel to Uluru (Ayers Rock) to see the sunset on the rock. Enjoy a glass of wine as the day’s light starts to fade. Tonight you might like to enjoy the Uluru Aussie Barbecue (additional cost). Tour concludes with transfer to your chosen Ayers Rock accommodation.
Full Day. Depart Alice Springs: 7.00 a.m., tour finishes at Ayers Rock Resort 20 minutes after sunset.
