Australia - South Australia

This is a great place to visit if you are a wine buff. They have a bottle of every wine produced in South Australia. You can play “winemaker” and make your own wine. Mine has never passed the test or been fit to drink. A lovely exhibit and well worth visiting.

The wine areas are Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, McLaren Vale, Eden Valley, and Coonawarra.

Sevenhill Cellars is the only winery in Australia and one of only a few in the world run by a religious order.

25% of all wine produced in Australia comes from the Barossa Valley.

Clare Valley Vineyard

The Clare Valley actually consists of seven small valleys

While there are 60 wineries in the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek, regions. Bold Shiraz, rich Cabernet Sauvignon and excellent Grenache. It also has some of the best Chardonney in Australia. Penfolds used it in their White Grange.

I always recommend going on a private wine tour with your own knowledgeable guide. You will be taken to small wineries, wonderful spots for a lunch, and thoroughly enjoy your day out.

Barossa Valley Vineyard by Bram Souffreau

If you can only have time to see one area, go to the Barossa. Quaint, German history, wonderful food, and marvelous people.
