Day of the Dead Figurine Collectibles

without comments

Mexicans celebrate the Day of the Dead on November 1 and 2. If that sounds familiar to you, it might be because you’re a Catholic. Those dates coincide with two Catholic Holy Days – All Saints Day and All Souls Day. Mexicans spend the time visiting the cemetaries and remembering and praying for beloved family members and friends who have passed on.

An entire art form has developed to create shrines and remembrances to dead friends and family. There are gorgeous Day of the Dead figurines that show skeletons in a variety of activities and poses. Often these figurines show skeletons in Mexican activities such as the Day of the Dead Matador Bull Fighter. You’ll also find a Mexican Bandito with a huge sombrero and serape on. The skeletons are often smiling and their clothes are brightly colored.

These stunning skeleton figurines aren’t just appropriate for folks who celebrate the Day of the Dead. If you love Victorian or Gothic decor, skeletons are important home accessories in both interior design styles. The Victorians were fascinated by psychic phenonena and death. So they would often include skeletons in their home accents. It wouldn’t be unusual to see a skull on a mantle or end table. These colorful skeleton figurines can be used every day in a Goth home. Of course a skeleton figurine is appropriate in any home at halloween.
