The Whakarewarewa Valley is filled with geothermal activity, including bubbling mud pools and geisers. There are two neighboring attractions: Te Puia, the larger, offers regular guided tours through the park, including the geothermal areas, the marae, and the kiwi house. There are also Maori cultural experiences like traditional dances and meals available. the Wkakarewarewa Thermal Village is the smaller of the two parks and appears less developed and more "authentic."
